Young Texas Veteran Shot 7x by a Friend After a Late Night Out
A quiet morning in Dallas turned into a nightmare for a young active army man when he was shot multiple times by a friend.
POLICED RUSH TO A BLOODY AND VIOLENT CRIME SCENE
In the early morning hours, 24-year-old Andrew Alcantar was fighting for his life after a violent confrontation in Dallas. Around 5:10 am Dallas police responded to a shooting call. When they arrived, they discovered Alcantar with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.
The suspect, 44-year-old John Edward Estrada was quickly identified and charged with aggravated assault. After bonding out of jail, the details of that fateful night emerged.
A FIGHT BEGINS AFTER A NIGHT OUT
After a night out, Alcantar went to Estrada's apartment where an argument would ultimately begin. The argument turned physical and in a startling escalation, Estrada pulled out a gun and started shooting, hitting Alcantar 4 times in the upper chest and back and 3 times in the leg.
Despite the severity of his injuries, Alcantar remains grateful to be alive, "I just feel sore and it's kind of hard for me to breathe," he said. His mother, Erika Guerrero, has been by his side through it all, choosing to forgive rather than become bitter and angry, "It was horrible. It was a parent's worst nightmare."

Alcantar's recovery has been intense, involving 6 surgeries and a long road ahead. A GoFundMe page has been set up by his father, Martin Guerrero, to help cover the medical expenses.
"He is only 24, a young adult who still has regular bills to pay plus hospital bills. He was fully active in the military and this long road to recovery just ended his military career."
